About

A boutique advisory firm with a single industry focus

Like the Niagara escarpment that channels raw volume into directed, concentrated force, Hotel Hejab takes the full complexity of hotel performance and focuses it into clear, prioritised action. We work exclusively with hotels and hospitality operators — and that focus is the foundation of everything we do.

Our story

Our story

Hotel Hejab is a boutique advisory firm rooted in the Niagara Falls hospitality corridor — one of Canada's most competitive hotel markets. We work exclusively with hotels and hospitality operators, bringing structured, evidence-based methods to the challenges that matter most: revenue leakage, inconsistent guest experiences, and undertrained service teams. Our consultants have held senior operational roles in full-service hotels before moving into advisory work, so every recommendation we make is grounded in what actually works on the floor, not just in a spreadsheet. We take on a limited number of engagements at a time so that each client receives focused, senior-level attention from start to finish.

  1. 2011

Hotel Hejab founded by a team of former hotel general managers and revenue directors, initially serving independent properties in the Niagara region.

  2. 2015

Expanded service offering to include pre-opening consulting after successfully guiding three new boutique properties through their launch phases.

  3. 2018

Formalised the guest experience audit framework, introducing the 60-criteria evaluation methodology now used across all audit engagements.

  4. 2021

Added online reputation management and F&B concept review as standalone services in response to client demand following the industry's post-pandemic recovery period.

  5. 2024

Reached 120 completed hotel engagements across Ontario and Atlantic Canada, maintaining a deliberate limit on concurrent projects to preserve engagement quality.

Values

How we work

01

Sector-Exclusive Expertise

We work only with hotels and hospitality operators. That focus means our frameworks, benchmarks, and scenario libraries are built entirely from hospitality data — not adapted from generic consulting toolkits.

02

Practitioners, Not Just Advisors

Our consultants have managed hotel departments and properties before advising them. Recommendations are grounded in operational reality, not theoretical frameworks that fall apart at the front desk.

03

Evidence-Based Methods

Every engagement begins with structured data collection. We benchmark your property against your competitive set using real market data, so our recommendations are specific to your situation, not generic best practices.

04

Strict Confidentiality

All engagements are protected by mutual non-disclosure agreements. We do not discuss client situations publicly, and we are transparent about any potential conflicts before accepting a mandate.

05

Prioritised, Actionable Outputs

We deliver prioritised action plans, not dense reports that sit on a shelf. Every recommendation is ranked by impact and implementation difficulty so your team knows exactly where to start.

06

Focused Capacity

We take on a limited number of engagements at a time so that each client receives focused, senior-level attention. You will work directly with an experienced consultant throughout, not a junior analyst.

How we work

How an engagement works

  1. 1

    Discovery Call

We begin with a confidential conversation to understand your property's situation, goals, and constraints. This call helps us determine whether there is a good fit and what scope of engagement makes sense.

  2. 2

    Scope & Proposal

We prepare a written proposal outlining the engagement scope, methodology, timeline, and fee. For complex situations, we may recommend a standalone diagnostic before committing to a full engagement.

  3. 3

    Data Collection & Audit

We gather and analyse your property's performance data, conduct on-site visits or mystery-guest stays as appropriate, and complete structured interviews with key department heads.

  4. 4

    Analysis & Recommendations

We synthesise findings into a prioritised action plan with realistic impact estimates. Recommendations are reviewed internally for feasibility before being presented to your team.

  5. 5

    Debrief & Handover

We present findings and recommendations in a structured debrief session with ownership and department heads, answer questions, and agree on next steps. All materials are handed over in editable formats.

Do you work with branded hotels as well as independent properties?

Yes. We work with both independent and branded properties. For branded hotels, we work within your brand standards framework and focus on the areas where local management has discretion — typically revenue strategy, service culture, and operational efficiency.

How many engagements do you take on at a time?

We deliberately limit our concurrent engagements so that each client receives focused senior-level attention. This means our availability is sometimes limited, and we recommend reaching out early if you have a time-sensitive project.

Do you work outside the Niagara Falls region?

Yes. While our home base is in Niagara Falls and we have deep roots in the Niagara hospitality market, we take on project-based engagements across Ontario and Atlantic Canada. For audit and training work, we prefer to be on-site at your property.

What size of hotel do you typically work with?

We work with properties ranging from small boutique hotels of under 20 rooms to full-service properties with 200 or more rooms. Our methodologies scale to property size, and we are transparent about adjusting scope when a property is too small or too large for a standard engagement.

How do you charge — fixed fee or hourly?

Most of our engagements are priced as fixed-fee projects with a clearly defined scope and deliverables. This gives you cost certainty and aligns our incentives with delivering results efficiently. Retainer arrangements are priced on a monthly basis.

Can we start with a smaller engagement before committing to a larger one?

Yes, and we often recommend it. A standalone revenue audit or guest experience audit is a practical way to work together on a defined scope before committing to a broader programme. Many of our longer-term client relationships started with a single focused engagement.

Do you offer remote consulting or is everything on-site?

We offer both. Strategic advisory, reputation management, and data analysis work are well-suited to remote delivery. Guest experience audits, service training, and operational reviews require on-site presence to be effective, and we plan travel accordingly.

What information do you need from us to prepare a proposal?

For most engagements, we need a basic overview of your property (room count, outlet mix, ownership structure), a description of the challenge you are trying to solve, and your approximate timeline. We gather detailed financial and operational data after the engagement begins.

Do you sign a non-disclosure agreement?

Yes. All engagements begin with a mutual non-disclosure agreement. Confidentiality is fundamental to the trust required for effective advisory work, and we take it seriously.

What makes your approach different from a large consulting firm?

We are a boutique firm with a single industry focus. You work directly with experienced hospitality practitioners — not a senior partner who sells the engagement and then hands it to a junior team. Our frameworks are built from hotel-specific data, and our recommendations reflect what is actually achievable in a hotel operating environment.
